Why gas should be your first choice for your company's energy needs
Gas is the energy of the future. It is versatile, clean burning, safe and economical. It can be applied across any of the following industries:
| Industry |
Application |
| Metal manufacturing or processing |
Heat treatment, melting, forging, preheating, curing, galvanizing |
| Chemicals |
Steam generation and heating |
| Food & commercial (bakeries) |
Steam generation, baking, frying, oil heating, water heating, space heating and cooking |
| Ceramic & non-metals |
Heating, baking, curing, glass melting |
| Manufacturing |
Painting, curing, air heating, injection moulding, melting and steam generation |
| Paper processing |
Generating steam for drying purposes. |
| Thermic oil heating |
Heating chemical products that cannot be heated directly |
| Boilers |
Generating steam which is used for heating, drying, etc. |
Gas is being used by forward looking industrials for a number of other reasons too. Besides being the perfect counter to rising electricity costs, it is virtually sulphur free, which means that corrosion resulting from sulphur dioxide is non-existent and factory equipment therefore requires less maintenance and lasts longer. Piped gas is also:
- Lighter than air, which means that it dissipates quickly in well ventilated areas unless it becomes trapped in an enclosed space
-
Colourless and odourless. Any smells make detection of small leaks easy
- Virtually pollution free. It produces the least amount of sulphur and nitrogen of any fossil fuel
- Always available. No interruptions!
- Easily mixed with the correct volume of air required for complete combustion, which means that all energy in pipeline gas is used in the heating process, while exhaust heat losses (normally caused by excess air) are kept to a minimum
- Safe. It eliminates the risks associated with coal such as fire and groundwater contamination. It is also difficult to ignite and only flammable when the gas-to-air mixture is between 5 and 17 percent. Its ignition temperature of 650 degrees Celsius (nearly double that of some other fuels) gives our customers added peace of mind
